Why Customize Windows 10 to Look Like macOS Big Sur?
MacOS
Big Sur features a clean, modern UI with rounded edges, a refined dock, and a
smooth user experience. If you love Apple’s aesthetics but want to stick with
Windows, this transformation is perfect for you. Plus, it’s completely free!
Step 1: Download the Required Tools
Before
we start, you’ll need a few files. Download the following:
·
UXThemePatcher
– Sets the system to allow custom
theme installation
· Big Sur 2 Theme – The skin that brings the macOS
look.
· Big
Sur by VIN STAR –
To give the theme more customization
· OldNewExplorer
– Changes the looks of Windows
Explorer
· 7tsp
GUI – Custom
cursor installation tool
· MyDockFinder – A macOS-style dock.
· Rainmeter – A customization tool for Windows.
· Bluesh
rainmeter skin –
To give Windows an outstanding desktop feel
All
download links are provided at the end of this guide.
Step 2: Create a Restore Point
Just in case you run into a problem
with your system while or after the installation process, you’ll simply restore
it to its original state without any hardships.

Step 3: Install UXThemePatcher & Apply the Big Sur
Theme
UXThemePatcher is the tool that makes it possible
to apply any custom theme to your Windows system. Follow these steps:
- Run the
UXThemePatcher setup file
and follow the prompts.
- Extract
the contents in Big Sur 2 Windows
Theme and Big Sur by VIN STAR
archives.
- Open
the folder, Go to Windows 10
Themes\New Style and copy all the content.
- Paste
in C:\Windows\Resources\Themes.
- Open
Big Sur 2 Windows Theme folder and Go to Cursors, right-click the install
file and choose Install from the dropdown menu.
- Right-click
your desktop, select Personalization
and under Themes, choose Big Sur 2 Dark Mode.
Now
your desktop will start resembling macOS!
Step 4: Install OldNewExplorer
Let’s
now change the look of Windows Explorer to MacOS style.
- Extract
OldNewExplorer by VIN STAR.
- Open
folder then run OldNewExplorerCfg file.
- Check
options to your liking or use my settings in the video walkthrough []
- Click Install then close the window after installation.
Check
your Windows Explorer look. I bet you are already getting impressed.
Step 5: Change Icons
To get the
full Apple vibe, replace your Windows files and folder icons.
- Navigate to “Big Sur 2 Windows
Theme \ 7TSP Icon Theme”
- Rename 7tsp BigSur DarkMode.7z.remove to 7tsp
BigSur DarkMode.7z
- Extract 7tsp GUI, open folder and rename 7tsp GUI v0.6(2019).ee to 7tsp
GUI v0.6(2019).exe then run it.
- Click Add a Custom Pack navigate to Big Sur 2 Windows Theme \ 7TSP
Icon Theme and choose 7tsp BigSur DarkMode.
- Hit Start Patching and let the process complete.
- Restart your system when
prompted.
These small
changes make a huge visual impact after restart.
Step 6: Install MyDockFinder
The macOS dock is a signature part
of Apple’s design. Here’s how to add it to Windows:
- Extract MyDockFinder by VIN STAR.
- Cut and paste the extracted
folder to C:\
- Open the Big Sur by VIN STAR folder, cut all content from Paste to dock folder and paste it
to “C:\MyDock\”
- Open Big Sur 2 Windows Theme cut Big Sur dock Icons folder to “C:\”
- Open the Big Sur by VIN STAR folder, cut all content from Paste to Icon folder and paste it
to “C:\Big Sur dock Icons\”
- Set the Taskbar location to TOP.
- Open the MyDock folder in the C
drive and run VC_2015-2022x64, VC_2015-2022x86 and MyDock respectively.
- Right-click the dock, choose Preferences and under Advanced scroll down and set the
Backup Dock icon file to VIN STAR
Mac Dock.
Now you have a functional
macOS-style dock!
Step 7: Install Rainmeter
Rainmeter is the tool that makes almost
everything possible on the desktop. Follow these steps to Install:
1. Run the Rainmeter setup file choose
the Language and hit Ok.
2. Select Standard installation and click Next.
3. Choose the installation folder check
the additional options and hit Install.
4. Check Run Rainmeter and click Finish.
You’ve officially unlocked your
desktop for customization.
Step 8: Add Bluesh Skin
Bluesh skin customizations for the
desktop are top notch for a “wanna be macOS” Windows 10.
1.
Open
the bluesh skin file.
2.
Uncheck
“Apply include layout” option then
click Install.
3.
Click
the Windows icon on the dock and select Rainmeter.
4.
Under
Skins expand bluesh folder in the
left pane.
5.
See
a list? Add any of those to the desktop by:
· Expanding the folder of your choice
· Double click the file and it’ll be
added to the desktop
· Drag it to any location you choose.
6. Auto hide the desktop icons to finish the MacOS look.
